Project-Based Learning in a World Focused on Standards

  • Chapter
A Practice-based Model of STEM Teaching

Abstract

The old school instructional model involves passive teaching of facts and reciting them out of context. This is no longer sufficient to prepare students to survive in today’s world. By recently emerging standards such as Common Core, NGSS, and 21st century standards, students are asked to become independent workers, critical thinkers and lifelong learners.
