Abstract

History as a school subject has been taught in Chilean schools for over 150 years. An understanding of its broad developments can be enhanced by an appreciation of the international context within which it has been located. As the previous chapter indicated, three countries in particular have strongly influenced development of the teaching of history in Chile.
