Abstract

Recall Said’s contention of how the “vision of the moment” (1993, p. 67) provoked later revisions situated within linguistic, cultural and societal codifications of imperialism and colonialism. The vision constructed out of seventeenth century struggles between power and resistance allows for an exploration into contemporary revisions provoked by the resurgence of piracy off the coast of Somalia.
