Abstract

The previous chapter highlighted the growth and development of the Chinese higher education system. It sought to provide insight into the historical, cultural, and social circumstances responsible for the common attributes of Chinese higher education institutions and to the methods implemented to modernize the system. The present chapter will report the characteristics of the contemporary higher education system, such as its structure, management system, growing strengths and continuing limitations.
