Abstract

After spending the rest of the weekend on her couch, watching TV, napping, and drinking, all while wearing her Old Navy pants and a ratty old gray sweatshirt, Prilly managed to pull herself together to go to work Monday morning. She spent the next couple of days focusing entirely on work. She was able to block everything else out of her mind by making herself emotionally numb, a skill she learned while being bullied on the playground in third grade. She shut down so she could show up. This also helped in her dealings with Janice who now appeared downright angry.
