Abstract

Epidemic encephalitis B is an acute infectious disease of the central nervous system caused by encephalitis B virus, mainly with lesions of brain parenchyma inflammation. It is also known as Japanese encephalitis since encephalitis B virus was firstly isolated in Japan in 1934. It is characterized clinically by acute onset, high fever, consciousness disturbance, convulsion, and meningeal irritation sign. In serious cases, respiratory failure commonly occurs and the disease has various degrees of sequelae.
