Abstract
Acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis (AHC), also known as epidemic hemorrhagic conjunctivitis, is a newly emerging acute viral eye disease in the recent 40 years, with outbreaks and prevalence across the world. The disease more commonly occurs in summers and autumns. Clinically, it is characterized by acute onset, severe irritative symptoms, and accompanying conditions including subconjunctival hemorrhage, corneal epithelial impairment, and preauricular lymphadenectasis. AHC is legally categorized into Class C infectious diseases in China, which is highly transmissible via contacts. Populations are generally susceptible to the disease.
