Abstract
Gonorrhea is a suppurative inflammation of the urogenital system caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae or briefly gonococcus, which also includes infections of the eye, pharynx, and rectum and disseminated gonococcus infection. It is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections with a relatively short incubation period. Symptoms and signs of gonorrhea commonly appear within 3–5 days after infection.
