Abstract
Sea routes have always fascinated men. To seek out new land and civilizations to conquer, to sail and explore new trade routes, have been the ambition and driving force for mariners, merchants and warriors. Columbus discovered America while he was trying to find the sea route to India and its riches. The Norwegian Vikings landed in North America 1000 years ago in their endeavours to find new and greener pastures.
