Abstract

Before starting the reflection on the notion “eleng”, that is of time in the African way of thinking, I would first of all like to highlight some characteristics of African culture. By so doing, I hope to illustrate the originality of the African way of thinking, which in itself finds its maximum expression in the neologism “vitalogy”. Vitalogy is a term which I have found extremely appropriate in identifying, and distinguishing, the African way of thinking from all the other forms of thought world-wide.
