Abstract

Silviculture, ad literam cultivation of the woods, of the forest, is, according to Alfred Moeller,1 agriculture’s younger sister. It has developed through the application of farming techniques, productive arrangements and economic evaluations that are typical of the older sister. Against the background of a conceptual apparatus this can be translated as 1) the identification of farming procedures in order to obtain a constant, maximum annual product or yield; 2) the definition of standards to optimize land yield or output; and 3) the preparation of a cost/benefit analysis similar to the one applied to intensive, automated industrial agriculture.

In the first place, there is a unity in things so that each thing is one in itself, it is made up of itself, and is consistent with itself. In the second place, there is a unity through which each creature is united with the other and all parts of the world comprise a single world.
