Multiplication, growth and persistence of perennial weeds

  • Chapter
Biology and ecology of weeds

Part of the book series: Geobotany ((GEOB,volume 2))

Abstract

Although many of the more important weeds in annual crops are usually annual plants, some of the worst weeds are perennial plants, even in annual crops. In leys and other perennial crops where tillage is not accomplished every year, many types of perennial species can be important weeds, whereas annual species have difficulties in producing vigorous plants in perennial crops with dense stands.
