Abstract

From above considerations, it becomes already evident that, in comparison with galactic cosmic rays (GCR) and ERB particles, SEP events are the most dangerous component of radiation environment, due to serious difficulties in the prediction and diagnostics of those events. Therefore, in this Chapter we describe in some more details the SPE classification systems, SPE databases, energetic, temporal and other properties of accelerated solar particles. All those data form the basis for the development of numerous models for SEP events and for the elaboration the forecast techniques on different time scales (Chapter 7).
