Abstract
This chapter describes some general properties of the syntax, sketches analyses of several constructions, and indicates how these relate to analyses of the same (or similar) constructions in more theoretically oriented approaches. Furthermore, it will show that the method of compositional translation combined with language-specific transformations allows simple and elegant accounts of fairly complex syntactic phenomena. This will be illustrated with a small number of examples of the many phenomena that have actually been implemented. A more detailed account can be found in Odijk (1993).
