Abstract
Critical contemporary world problems encompass how to promote national and social integration while overcoming the imbalance in wealth among nations and regions, and how to create a global structure among diverse cultures. Solving these problems is complicated by the current trend toward the primacy of economic issues over political movements and the independence of various folks (peoples) who have formerly been in dependent relationships.
There is an important trend toward a reciprocity based upon equal result rather than equal opportunity or rule. Ways of moving toward a universal morality include managers adopting the roles of impartial spectators (Adam Smith) in order to understand the claims of others; adoption of a principle of benevolence in which work is seen as a means of salvation and happiness, and actions are taken consistently with productive/living nature; and acting consistently with a new Golden Rule of “doing what will help others”.
