Abstract
In Le Mythe, Aujourd’hui Roland Barthes provides a working model of “myth.” It is suggested that this can be used to understand mythical thinking within counselling and teaching situations where differing socio-linguistic fields of perception may meet without mixing. Communication can fail where representatives of the major society operate with a rationale which ignores mythical thought-processes.
