Abstract
Of the seven basic points of the constitution which Bogyoke Aung San moved for acceptance by the Constituent Assembly on June 16, 1947, the seventh read: ‘That this historic land of Burma shall attain its rightful and honoured place in the world, make its full and willing contribution to the advancement and welfare of mankind and affirm its devotion to the ideal of peace and friendly co-operation amongst nations founded on international justice and morality.’

U Myint Thein, now Chief Justice of the Union, inaugurated the Burmese Embassy in Nanking, and was again the first Burmese Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China. Accounts of the Embassy in Nanking, and in Peking, and the changeover in China, appear in ‘Chinese Sojourns’ by ‘M.M.T.,’ Guardian magazine, February, March, and April issues, 1955.
The rice taken by the Governments of the Soviet Union, and the People’s Republic of China, later found their way to Ceylon and other countries.
