Abstract
Detectors working on the basis of an absorption of ultraviolet or visible radiation are frequently used in liquid chromatography mainly for their high sensitivity. Therefore, from the beginning of the work on elaboration of the method of chemical warfare agents analysis by liquid chromatography were oriented to this type of the most used detectors because they make possible to use gradient elution, too. There is a limitation for this type of detectors — they can be used only for compounds which can absorb ultraviolet or visible radiation, e.g. compounds which contain conjugated multiple bonds. In the group of chemical warfare agents are such compounds for example chloroacetophenone (agent CN), o-chloro-benzalmalonodinitrile (agent CS), 3-quinuclidinol benzilate (agent BZ) and some of older agents as Adamsit, Clark etc.
