Abstract
Contemplation, meditation, reflection, life and death are continuing themes in the stories of J. M. G. Le Clézio. In his books, Le Clézio poses innumerable questions and explores answers about the human condition through his characters‐ experiential journeys in the world. His quest for understanding human existence and for discovering liberation through Buddhism was the subject of his novels written in 1966 while he taught at the Buddhist University of Bangkok and thereafter.
