Abstract
My comments will reflect the point of view of a practitioner, someone who has been in the futures market more or less every day for the last 13 or 14 years. During that time, I have seen much change and development in the futures market and forward markets and, of course, considerable growth and acceptance in the financial community. From that background, I see the current period as one in which U.S. competitive advantage seems to be diminishing. Such a shift is clearly suggested in Merton Miller’s article.
