Abstract
Saying anything general about sophisms is difficult for at least two reasons. First, texts classifiable into the genre of sophisms are so diverse that there seems to be almost nothing common to all of them. Secondly, modern discussion of these texts is still somewhat scattered. The texts simply are not yet known well enough for finding unifying perspectives.
