Abstract

Recent advances in the formulation of adhesives have enhanced the use of bonding as a structural fastening technique. However, the full potential in the use of modern adhesives has been restricted by the difficulties encountered in evaluating the strength of a proposed joint. These difficulties arise because there is no technique that is readily available to the design engineer for analysing the wide range of possible joint configurations.
