Abstract
The report deals with a pilot study aimed at developing reliable comparative methods of sociopsychological, sociopsychopathological and sociopsychiatric research. It was applied to an investigation of the interrelations between mental health and personal adjustment of immigrants in Israel. Care was taken to overcome obstacles to comparative research in the field of mental health such as vagueness of semantics; unscalable information in interviews; comparison of too intricate and not clearly enough defined states of mental health, such as “positive” and ill health (Chapter One).
The summary reviews only a restricted number of the numerous features, findings and conclusions covered by the report on the study. The reader interested in a more detailed summarizing survey will find this in Chapter One and in the Introductory Remarks preceding the other chapters.
