Abstract

Everything up to now constitutes a classical approach to the thermodynamics of metallic solutions. It can appear formal and abstract without support from the structure of matter. But in fact, whilst atomic theory leads to identical conclusions, it enables the metallurgist to understand the mechanisms better and to link them with the crystallographic structure, of which he has a continually deepening knowledge.
