Abstract

By means of mathematical modelling it is shown that subcritical accelerator driven systems are very perspective for a safe and economically profitable incineration of plutonium. Systems with metallic plutonium and with MUX fuel are considered. Using the already existing accelerators one can build electronuclear set-ups with thermal power of tens kW.
