Abstract

Permafrost is defined as a thickness of soil or other superficial deposit, or even of bedrock, at a variable depths beneath the surface of the earth in which a temperature below 0°C has existed continually more than 2 years (Washburn, 1979). Permafrost on the Tibetan Plateau has unique developing history and characteristics due to the unique geological and climatic fluctuation history. It is the result of mass and heat exchanges between lithosphère and atmosphere influenced by lithologie, climatic, geographic, hydrologie, and pédologie conditions and vegetation, snow cover etc. under the background of the uplifting of the plateau.
