Abstract
Recently a law was passed in Slovenia on chemicals that gives a legal foundation for evaluating chemical risk. Following special training a group of experts from the field of medicine and environment protection began to assess the risk of selected groups of chemicals according to the EUSES programme. In the future the risk assessment for chemicals will be harmonised with the EU legislation, and for this reason we will build up a suitable legislation in Slovenia.
We will form an information network, which will include data on production, import, transport and use of chemicals. The aim of training experts is equal rights for cooperation in the preparation of risk assessments for chemicals in the EU. On a regional level we will form model risk assessments which will supplement the EUSES programme and they will take into consideration the particularities of the Slovene area.
