Abstract
This paper examines surgeons in the process of making decisions. The analysis focuses on decision-making occurring in the course of the surgeons’ professional clinical activities. This paper examines non-medical criteria entering into medical decision-making among surgeons and their influence on medical outcomes. It also examines the situations or contexts in which these non-medical criteria play an instrumental role in medical decision-making.
