Abstract
It is always difficult to predict future technical development but with the seismic refraction technique there are so many clues that I am rather convinced it can be done without risking appreciable discrepancies between reality and prediction. Modern digital recording equipment, the mechanical energy sources available, an increased interest in including elastic constants, frequencies and amplitudes in evaluations, and a tendency to replace manual treatment of seismic data by computer processing clearly indicate the development to be expected.
