Abstract
Trends in numerical values for component enthalpies are difficult to interpret theoretically; they can not be directly related to concepts of chemical bonding or to steric interactions between formally non-bonded atoms. It is therefore difficult to see how the many unknown values for component enthalpies can be derived from known values.
