Abstract
In Chapter 2 we considered some of the aspects of SLAR which affect the image or influence the interpretability of that image. In this chapter we shall consider those aspects of the radar system which are more influenced by the interaction of the radar with the observed surface. In some instances it could be argued that the results belong to the system rather than to the target, to a certain extent it is difficult to make a distinction but nevertheless the character of the target has to be considered in relationship to the imagery source.
