Abstract

In this paper the main features adopted by the principal Italian shipyard (CNI) and CETENA for propeller design are briefly summarized, as well as the methodologies adopted for forecasting and reducing undesired phenomena such as the inception and extension of cavitation, induced pressures and radiated noise.

Some of the results achieved and experience acquired for both merchant and naval ships are presented and discussed.
