Abstract

We have examined models where the cooling or cooled cluster gas is reheated by conduction, by galaxy motions, and by supernovae. In each case, it is difficult or impossible to reproduce the observed temperature gradient while also reducing the net rate at which cooled gas is produced. None of the models examined lead to a viable alternative cooling flow scenario.
