Abstract

The last two decades witnessed the development of an intense interest in identifying the medical and biological effects of the environment on living organisms. With increasing world industrialization, our immediate environs (air, drinking water, food, etc.) have become contaminated with materials previously considered to be beneficial to mankind, but later recognized as significantly harmful to life. Asbestos was among such contaminants brought to the attention of the public.
