Abstract
Ingots of the nominal compositions GdFe10.5Ti1.5 and GdFe11Ti have been studied in their as-cast and annealed forms. They are primarily constituted by a ternary ThMn12-type compound. The samples show different secondary phases, among which another ternary compound. The ThMn12 structure has also been observed in a melt-spun GdFe10.5Ti1.5 ribbon studied by TEM. Preliminary magnetic measurements have been performed.
