Abstract
A look at the map of the Levant shows a dense network of streams and rivers. This is a deceiving image. In fact we look at a hydrological skeleton with little flowing life in it. The “mighty Jordan”, certainly the most famous river in the world, is something of a limnologie hoax: a poor desert creek, fighting for its existence during the heat of the summer.
