Laser - Surface Interactions

Abstract

The increasing demand of laser in surface processing can be attributed to the unique advantages of laser radiation. We shown various laser methods, which involve surface engineering and surface ablation. Particularly, we discuss laser engraving and marking of surfaces and analyze the principles of laser-induced engraving and marking of various materials, as well as briefly give an overview of the industrial applications of these processes. We also present the basic principles of the analysis of the materials evaporated from the surfaces. Other topics, which are presented in this chapter include the applications of intense laser-surface interaction in defense, laser cutting, and tattoo removal by laser pulses.
