Abstract
The present book deals with laser–plasma interactions. The phenomena which are described in the book occur when a laser pulse interacts with matter which can be considered as a plasma, i.e. which is ionized during all the interaction, so that the optical response of the medium is determined by the motion of free electrons. By superintense laser pulse we will mostly mean that the field amplitude is high enough that the electrons will be driven at velocities close to the speed of light c, so that their dynamics must be described by using special relativity. We will briefly refer to a laser–plasma as a plasma interacting with laser light.
