Proteins of the Nucleolus

Abstract

This book contains 15 original review chapters each containing data that yield new, exciting and intriguing data about the emerging understanding of nucleolar structure and function in normal, stressed and diseased cells. The goal of this introduction is not to review the fine details of each chapter but to give a sampling of each and some of the information therein that gives us special insight into the nucleolus of the past, present and future. A final summary chapter will look at the contents of this volume as a whole with a view to future research.
