Abstract

The EuroQol Group today is an organisation whose influence on the measurement and valuation of health-related quality of life extends worldwide. Its instrument the EQ-5D has been translated into well over 100 languages and it is used for a variety of purposes in a wide range of settings. The book narrates the history of the Group from its first meeting 25 years ago. This introductory chapter sets the scene in the context of health-related quality of life measurement, and acknowledges the contributions of individual EuroQol Group members.
