Abstract
The all-pole and rational approximations presented in the previous Chapters are used to approximate the ideal lowpass gain function within specified tolerances. Highpass, bandpass and band-reject filters are derived from lowpass filters using the appropriate frequency transformation. It is shown in this Chapter that in order to design a highpass, bandpass or band-reject filter, we can first design an auxiliary normalized lowpass filter which can then be transformed to the desirable filter type. The corresponding frequency transformations are presented and their use is demonstrated in several design examples.
