Abstract
The following is a short story told by a Chinese-American woman who is making her first visit to mainland China to visit relatives there. Her sister, Kwan—who was born in China, speaks Chinese fluently, and still has many friends there—escorts her. One morning walk, they find a large cluster of food stalls and stop at one to order pancakes.
