Abstract

In the following, we consider structures made of a resonator filled with a nonlinear material. The resonator is made of a waveguide with a diffraction grating coupler which allows excitation of guided waves in the film. Then reflection (R), transmission (T) and absorption (A=1-R-T) coefficients of the resonator exhibit resonances near guided mode characteristics (λm, θm). If such a structure is filled with a nonlinear material, it can be used as a switch or a bistable device when it is excited close to resonance[1].
