Abstract
Nonlinear optical devices based on cascaded second order processes (χ(2):χ(2) cascading) able to control laser light parameters are reviewed. Such parameters of the laser light as phase, intensity, polarization and pulse duration are considered. Special attention is paid to cascaded χ(2) nonlinear optical devices suitable for mode-locking and intracavity pulse control. Theoretical approaches used to investigate these types of nonlinear optical devices are also reviewed.
