Abstract

The nonlinear optical properties of crystals depend strongly on the excited quasiparticles in them and their interactions. These interactions modify the manyparticle spectra and govern the resonances of the susceptibilities. Nonlinear susceptibilities have been calculated for systems of interacting phonons [1,2], excitons and phonons [35] and phonon-polaritons [6,7]. In all these cases a specific common feature of the nonlinear two-particle spectra can be traced, which distinguishes them from the corresponding linear optical spectra. In the present communication we analyze this feature on the basis of a simple microscopic model.
