Abstract

This postscript is a tribute to the life and work of Professor Shirley Grundy, who died suddenly in July 2010, while this book was in preparation. Shirley challenged us as educators to remain critical of cultures of audit and compliance, and as an early proponent of practitioner inquiry and action research in Australia, her work had a deep and lasting impact on the work of the many classroom practitioners she worked with over the years. She is greatly missed by the Australian and International education community.
