Abstract
This book has proposed and introduced concepts providing scalable and affordable wireless networking for rich, personalised and easy-to-use communication services. These concepts were developed within the European funded project MAGNET/MAGNET Beyond. The topics of Personal Networks and Federations of Personal Networks, supporting security, identity and trust solutions and the optimized air interfaces are in line with the vision of the wireless research and development society towards ambient intelligence. This latter requires a radical change, which demands the definition of new interfaces and a multitude of standards in key areas of future media- and context-aware, multi-domain mobile networks.
