Samenvatting

Van resistentie wordt gesproken als een micro-organisme niet meer gevoelig is voor een klinisch relevante concentratie van een antimicrobieel middel, of als bij de ziekteverwekker (bacterie, virus, schimmel) een mechanisme of eigenschap kan worden aangetoond waaruit blijkt dat dit middel niet effectief zal zijn. Multiresistentie is een scala aan resistenties bij één micro-organisme.
