Management of Gender Dysphoria

Abstract

Breast is the main external indicator of gender; this is the reason why chest wall contouring is material in male to female transsexual treatment.

After a period of hormonal therapy, mammogenesis generally occurs, but the volume obtained is rarely satisfactory, so breast augmentation mammoplasty is performed. Historically, many different techniques have been implemented, but prosthetic breast augmentation is nowadays the golden standard. The surgeon has to select the appropriate technique among those described for genetic female patient, based on patient’s anatomical condition, choosing between subglandular, submuscular, or dual-plane technique types I, II, or III. Our team created an algorithm of choice.

This chapter is aimed to describe and analyze specific surgical solutions.
