Arteries of the Upper Limbs

  • Chapter
Cardiovascular CT and MR Imaging

Abstract

Most vascular diseases of the upper extremities are related to steno-occlusive diseases. These pathologies are differentiated with respect to the caliber of the artery involved: large, medium or small. Occlusive diseases of the large arteries are mainly related to atherosclerosis or thrombosis. On the other hand, the medium and small arteries are typically involved in autoimmune diseases (arteritis) and in Raynaud’s disease.
